Bio

Roberto Diana is a highly versatile and acclaimed musician known for his unique blend of Mediterranean folk and rock and roll influences.

He is an award-winning Sardinian electro-acoustic stringed multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, and performer who has been nominated for three Independent Music Awards, won a Silver Medal at the Global Music Awards, and became a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammy Awards) in 2016.

In September 2012, Roberto released his solo record "Raighes Vol 1" ("Roots" in the Sardinian language), which was rated as one of the best instrumental albums of the year by music magazines and webzines like Mescalina, Buscadero, Akustik Gitarren, Guitar Club, The Real Roots Café, R2, and others.

He toured internationally to promote the album, playing at The Troubadour in London and the world-famous Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles, where he recorded his live DVD released in May 2015.

On 13th March 2017, Roberto released "Raighes Vol 2," which was physically distributed in Italy by I.R.D., by Birnam in the UK, and by Alliance in the US. The record received critical acclaim from the international press, including a 5-star rating from UK Rock and Reel (R2) and an Akademia Music Award. It was also put forward for a Grammy Awards Nomination in the Category "Best Contemporary Instrumental Album."


In June 2016, Roberto collaborated with Scottish songwriter Donald MacNeill to release "Timeline," an album that received excellent reviews from prominent music magazines in the United Kingdom and Europe, such as Folk Words, who made it their "album of the month" in July.

The two artists toured Scotland, Italy, and Sardinia.


In 2019, Roberto collaborated with Marco Muntoni and Giulia Cartasegna to release the folk world album “Ispiriendi,” which he toured around Sardinia with.

Moreover, in April 2020, he released the album “Crossing” with Elgafar (Tommy Berre), which gained more than 3 million streams across all platforms.

Roberto has also released several singles in collaboration with bzur, Denis Turbide, The Field Tapes, Muniesa, and others, amassing more than 10 million streams across all platforms.


Aside from his music, Roberto is also the owner and man behind the music label Raighes Factory, an independent music company founded in 2010.

He has collaborated with other musicians and bands over the years, including Lowlands, with whom he toured internationally and co-produced six albums.


Roberto is known for his energy and excitement on stage and has been invited to play at some of the most prestigious trade fairs and music events in the world, including the NAMM Show in Los Angeles, the MusikMesse in Frankfurt, and the Acoustic Guitars International Meeting in Sarzana, among others.

Roberto is endorsed by several guitar brands, including Elixir Strings, Seymour Duncan Pickups, Reference Laboratory Cables, MN Guitars, Fret-King e Vintage for StefyLine, and Anderwood Guitars Weissenborn.

He also has his own signature guitar made by MN Guitars, the “Twilight 001/09 Roberto Diana Signature guitar,” which was first presented at the NAMM Show in 2009.


In 2016, Roberto became a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammy Awards) and received his second nomination at the 16th Independent Music Awards with his live EP, "Live at the Whisky a Go Go."


He also released a live DVD filmed under the 4,000-year-old Olivaster Tree in Luras, called "Note Millenarie."


Roberto is equally at home in both electric and acoustic settings and has established a solid reputation in the studio as an engineer and producer, working with a variety of international artists such as Will T. Massey, Steve Lukather, Tony Levin, Vinnie Colaiuta, Jeff Lewis, Frank Gambale, Dean Parks, Brian Ray, Pietro Nobile, JP Cervoni, Simon Phillips, James Raymond, Linda, Amanda Shires, Rachel Z, Joey Huffman, Richard Hunter, Chris Cacavas and many more
